When it comes to the greatest rockin’ bluesmen in history, at the top of the electrified traditional list is B.B. King and at the top of the contemporary list is Eric Clapton. In late 2000, Riding With The King brought the two living legends together for an entire album for the first time. The thrilling results took home a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album and went double platinum.

Featuring twelve consummate blues numbers chosen and arranged by Clapton and co-produced with Simon Climie, the dynamic duo is also joined by a substantial supporting cast here that includes the likes of Doyle Bramhall II (guitar), Andy Fairweather Low (guitar), Jimmie Vaughan (guitar), Joe Sample (keyboards), Tim Carmon (organ), Nathan East (bass) and Steve Gadd (drums) among others.

Clapton pays his respects to B.B. on the blues icon’s vintage classics “Ten Long Years,” “Three O’Clock Blues,” “Days of Old,” and “When My Heart Beats Like a Hammer” while the remainder of the triumphant set is comprised of the John Hiatt-penned title track and a selection of well-suited standards like “Keys to the Highway,” “Worried Life Blues,” “Hold on I’m Coming” and “Come Rain or Come Shine.” Twenty years on, Riding With The King remains as good as it gets!

This 20th anniversary 180g vinyl 2LP reissue includes two previously unreleased bonus tracks from the album sessions mixed by original producer Simon Climie: the blues standard “Rollin’ and Tumblin'” and a cover of Willie Dixon’s “Let Me Love You Baby.” Mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Los Angeles.
