Stan Getz and Bill Evans are about as close as musicians can get in terms of artistry, musical philosophy, technique and personality. Even though each is a strong individual, their efforts on this LP reveal an unrivaled affinity. Recorded in 1964 but not released until 1973 with the subtitle Previously Unreleased Recordings, there was nor more logical coupling than Getz and Evans to demonstrate that modernism could still be melodic and harmonically challenging. It’s a remarkable collection of stimulating swing, on a highly intellectual level.
