Joe Jackson – Night and Day (Intervention Records 180g Vinyl LP)

$75.00

180g Vinyl LP Reissue Mastered from the Original Master Tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and Pressed at RTI!

In 1981, following the dissolution of the Joe Jackson Band, musical journeyman Joe Jackson recorded Jumpin’ Jive, a ‘musical vacation’ paying tribute to swing and jump blues artists such as Louis Jordan and Cab Calloway. Returning to songwriting, he spent a large chunk of 1982 in New York soaking up the sounds of ‘The City That Never Sleeps’.
The result was the masterpiece, Night and Day, a more sophisticated and melodic record built around keyboards and Latin percussion rather than guitars, and named after the Cole Porter song. With a new guitar-less band featuring Graham Maby (bass), Larry Tolfree (drums) and Sue Hadjopoulos (percussion), Jackson hit the road for a whole year, and the album became his biggest success, spawning the hit singles “Steppin’ Out,” “Breaking Us In Two” and “Real Men.”

Night And Day truly has it all – wonderful songwriting, incredible arrangements and both commercial and critical appeal – and it stands as Joe Jackson’s only studio album to reach the Top 5 in both the U.K. and U.S.

“The Intervention reissue again beats the original A&M in every way.”
