Originally issued in 1991, Aaron Neville’s first A&M date Warm Your Heart finds the Crescent City R&B/soul legend exploring his pop side on a lush and melodically rich collection of soul gems from the ’60s produced by Linda Ronstadt and George Massengill. In addition to his lone original, “Angola Bound,” Neville can be heard in absolute peak form on the sublime singles “Everybody Plays the Fool,” “Somewhere, Somebody” and “Close Your Eyes.”

Rita Coolidge and Linda Rondstadt both appear as guest vocalists on a number of tracks while other contributing artists include slide guitarist Ry Cooder, saxophonist Plas Johnson, Bob Seger, Dr. John, Bob Glaub and Dean Parks. The album reached No. 44 on the Billboard 200 album chart and has achieved platinum status. In their flattering four-star review Rolling Stone wrote that Neville “must have taken the meaning of the gospel deep into his heart.”
