To mark National Album Day 2026 and this year’s Icons theme, we’re celebrating Emeli Sandé’s landmark 2012 debut album, ‘Our Version of Events’. The record spent an extraordinary 66 consecutive weeks in the UK Official Albums Chart Top 10, setting a record for the longest unbroken Top 10 run by a debut album and surpassing the 62-week run of The Beatles’ ‘Please Please Me’. Pressed on gold vinyl for National Album Day 2026, the album is certified 8x Platinum in the UK and has sold more than five million copies worldwide. It features much-loved hits including ‘Next to Me’, ‘Read All About It (Pt. III)’ and ‘Clown’. Celebrated for its emotional depth and exceptional songwriting, ‘Our Version of Events’ won British Album of the Year at the 2013 BRIT Awards, while ‘Next to Me’ received two Ivor Novello Awards: ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’ and PRS for ‘Music Most Performed Work’.
